Daniel Forster was born on Valentine's Day, 1948 in Murten , Switzerland. After an apprenticeship in a photo studio in Berne, he became a freelance photographer in 1974 and has since covered nine America's Cups and nine Olympic Games, one of them the Winter Games in Calgary.

His photographs appeared in every major Yachting magazine in Europe, the USA, New Zealand, and Australia.

His Website, www.yachtphoto.com , averages 20,000 visits a day during big events.

The America's Cups became stepping stones in his career: In 1986/87 TIME magazine sent him for five months to Perth, Australia and used his picture of winner Dennis Conner on the February cover. In 1988 Daniel moved from Switzerland to Middletown, Rhode Island, USA to be closer to the Sea!

In 1992 Daniel was the official photographer for Bill Koch's America3 team, which successfully defended the America's Cup, and in 1995 he photographed the "Women's Team plus One" quest for the America's Cup defense. Another of his photographs on the TIME magazine cover celebrated Team New Zealand's Victory in 1995!

In 1999/2000 he spent the shortest five months of his life reporting from the America's Cup in Auckland.

Daniel has been commissioned by maxi yacht owners like Bill Koch, MATADOR, Larry Ellison, SAYONARA and Jim Dolan, SAGAMORE, to document in book format their yacht's participation at major sailing events.

He worked with "illbruck Challenge" to document their global circumnavigation during the Volvo Ocean Race of which they won. Not a new job either, it is his third time doing all the stopovers for a client. In 1986 he even did the Uruguay to England leg on board UBS Switzerland as a photographer / crew member!

The action of the Louis Vuitton Cup and the most recent America's Cup can be seen on these pages. Daniel will soon be back out on the water covering major ROLEX sponsored regattas. Stay tuned!

Daniel Forster now lives in Jamestown, just across the bridge from Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

Kurt Arrigo was born in 1969 on the island of Malta. Growing up surrounded by the sea, Kurt developed a strong passion for water-related sports, in particular sailing and scuba diving. So when Kurt picked up a camera it was a natural progression for him to photograph his passions.

Kurt has been a full–time freelance photographer since 1995.

His passion for sailing photography took off after shooting the 1992 America’s Cup in San Diego. Since then he has documented several international yachting events including The Nioularge, Antigua Race week, Malta Rolex Middle Sea Race, many of which he has also crewed.

Dan Nerney
Portsmouth, RI USA

www.dannerneyphoto.com

Dan has been photographing boats for more than 35 years. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, he spent five years as a Coast Guard Officer. After his service to the nation, Dan became art director of a magazine which, in its third incarnation, was known as Yacht Racing; today it is called Sailing World.

His evolution to marine photography was natural for a man who spends so much time on the water.

He has photographed every America's Cup Race since 1964 and shot these races for Sports Illustrated and Time Magazine from 1977 until S.I. ceased sailing coverage in 2000 due to a lack of sailing interest in America.

Dan’s work has appeared on the covers of Time Magazine, and the New York Times Sunday Magazine, as well as inside nearly every major sailing and powerboat magazine in the world. Dan has also been published in other mainstream publications such as Town and Country, Life, Men’s Journal, Business Week and several annual reports.

He has been the official photographer for more Tall Ships and other sailing events that he would care to remember.

A long time member of the New York Yacht Club, and now the Official NYYC Club Photographer, he was employed by the Club to photograph the America's Cup Jubilee which they co-hosted with the Royal Yacht Squadron in August of 2000. Dan also photographs power boats, automobile racing and baseball.

Now a resident of Portsmouth Rhode Island, Dan paints landscapes when he's ashore and not behind a camera.
